First off, most people just call me "Ms. Renard," rather than "Renard-Spicer" or "Spicer."
I've taught for about 15 years now, mostly in Stafford County. I taught on Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan for a couple of years at the beginning of my career. I helped open Colonial Forge before moving over to help open Mountain View (and I love it here!). Most of my career has been focused on teaching honors-level English and creative writing, although I have taught learners at all high school grade and ability levels and remedial English in summer school. I have also advised the school's literature & art magazine and judged student publications for scholastic press associations such as CSPA and SIPA.
My education: B.A. in English from California State University (San Marcos), M.Ed. from University of Mary Washington with a focus on "diverse student populations" and specific endorsement in Gifted & Talented Education. I'm trained and certified by both the College Board (AP) and International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). I am also a trained IB examiner (for Language A: English).
